Today is my first day back at work after a week off. Rather than list a lot of boring work stuff that I have been bombarded with today...trust me that my day has really sucked.
Be positive, Stacy. Ok. Our house is almost clean--the floors need to be mopped, the spare room is a disaster, but the rest of the house is clean. I caught up on the laundry. We cooked ahead to prepare for a crazy week. I can now run 4 miles a pop, and below 10 minutes mile pace too! I rediscovered my love of reading, and I have been tearing through books. Life is good...but this particular day really sucks.
Vacation info and pics to come. Just too tired right now.

Happy Day for Andrew
Today is a very happy day for the Rowell family. I am the oldest of 5 children. I have 3 brothers: Jason, Matthew, and Andrew; and 1 sister: Madeline. My baby brother Andrew is graduating from high school. Michael and I are heading out to Greenville today to celebrate the day with Andrew and the rest of my family. He is a decorated honor graduate, and he starts The Citadel in August.
Although I am really proud of Andrew, I am in awe of my parents. Look at their stats:
*Married 33 years
*5 children (31, 29, 25, 21, 18)
*3 grandsons (all 5 and younger)
*1 lawyer and Furman graduate
*1 mechanical engineer, patent holder and Clemson graduate
*1 financial analyst and Citadel graduate
*1 soon-to-be Clemson suma cum laude honor graduate
*1 soon-to-be college-bound high school graduate
My parents are not wealthy people. My mom is a nurse and my dad is a teacher and ordained Southern Baptist minister. We all have student loans. We all had to scrap to get through school, and scrap even more when we got out. My parents don't have the money to support their children post-graduation. They would not have let us starve, but we were on our own...with lots of love and support.
I worry all the time about raising my two children and keeping them out of prison. Sorry, but that is the ex-public defender in me. I saw many "good" kids from "good" families at the courthouse in trouble. Not only have my parents managed to keep all of us out of prison (so far), but they have also managed to send the first 4, and soon the baby, to college. My parents prepared us to live our lives on our own terms. They prepared us to be self-sufficient. My parents are uber conservative Christian Republicans. We do not agree on ANY political, religious, or social topic that comes up around our house. And that is ok...because they raised us to be independent learners who think for ourselves.
So, here is a toast to my amazing parents, Maxcy and Brenda Rowell. I hope Michael and I can live up to your incredible example.
